Diversity: Cause we can’t call it racism anymore!

Guess what folks … many of the citizens of Eugene, Oregon (known as Track Town) will undergo “sensitivity and diversity” training to be sure they know how to treat the visiting 1,100 black athletes with sensitivity, awareness, and kindness while hosting the Olympic trials. It seems that because there is only a 2% “African-American” population in Eugene, some folks feel the local police, hospitality workers, and event volunteers are ill-equipped to deal graciously with the influx “African-American” athletes.

Earlier this year, black high school students from Portland’s Roosevelt High School were subjected to racial slurs at a boy’s basketball tournament in Eugene.

The Blacks on Track Team committee hopes to lessen the chances of that or a much lesser offense from happening at the 2008 Olympic Trials to be held in Eugene next summer.

The goal of the 23-member panel is to make sure that hundreds of black athletes and their families feel at home when they visit a city with a black population of less than 2 percent.

The committee is charged with educating the 1,800 volunteers expected to help at the Trials about the need for cultural sensitivity. All volunteers will get some level of diversity training, along with instruction in customer service, The Register-Guard newspaper reported. Several hundred hospitality workers at area hotels, restaurants and retail stores also will be invited to receive the training.

How the Blacks on Track Team got started is not entirely clear. When local representatives pitched Eugene to be the host, USA Track & Field officials expressed concern about Eugene’s racial demographics and whether athletes would feel welcome, said Angel Jones, Eugene city manager pro tem and a member of the committee that lobbied for Eugene’s selection.

The exact nature of the diversity training is still being worked out. But examples could include alerting visiting athletes to the kinds of restaurant foods, hair care salons or religious services that they might be accustomed to frequenting.

Another element of the training, Jones said, will be about not assuming that every unfamiliar black person in Eugene must be an athlete or supporter.

The training will likely be similar to what many corporations provide, said Betty Snowden, a Eugene real estate broker and committee member. Volunteers, for example, might be reminded that certain greetings might be appropriate in some instances between two black people, but less so if made by a white person to a black person.

Snowden said she also has concerns about black people being shadowed by clerks when they visit retail stores.

The Blacks on Track Team has already met with Eugene police to discuss plans for a four-day diversity training that, among other topics, will address how to guard against racial profiling, Fincher said.

How much is this lunacy costing the taxpayers in Eugene, Oregon? This is an “overly sensitive” solution that doesn’t even have a problem to solve! Do “African-American” athletes somehow deserve a “higher or special” level of courtesy because they are black? How about simply treating them with the same courtesy and kindness you would extend any other athlete … Black, White, Chinese, Hispanic, Japanese, Slavic, Brazilian, etc. … just a thought!

It is simply hilarious to hear this raging lunatic rant about Bill Clinton has “done so much” for poor blacks folks. I wonder how much the Clinton political machine is paying him to preach their message?

This racist pastor of Atlah Worldwide, James David Manning, is cut from the same cloth as the Rev. Jeremiah Wright (only in the Clinton camp) and his followers must be out of their minds to sit there in a church … and tolerate the kind of racism and bashing that he subjects them to.

Hillary Clinton, in an effort to show her readiness to answer the phone at 3:00 AM, has even told one hell of a whopper, lying about her heroic combat landing in Bosnia while taking fire from snipers. I guess she unfortunately forgot about the witnesses and pictures of the event!

Obama’s campaign, meanwhile, has asserted that Clinton has been untruthful about her foreign policy resume, her position on the North American Free Trade Agreement, her involvement in the 1993 passage of the Family and Medical Leave Act, and her views on the renegade primaries in Michigan and Florida.

I must say, that Barack Obama seems, at least to me, to be trying to not stoop to Hillary Clinton’s level in the nasty campaign tactics category! He questions her positions and assertions, but does not seem to resort to playing the smear tactics like Hillary Clinton does

TSA Fears Woman Will Hijack Plane With Nipple Ring!

I am not a big fan of piercings, but this is rediculous. Our Politically Correct TSA agents cannot profile Arabic males between the ages of 19 and 45, but can stop a woman from boarding a plane with nipple piercings? Lets be real clear here … this is stupid!

It seems that in Los Angeles, A Texas woman who was forced to remove a nipple ring with pliers in order to board an airplane has asked for an apology from federal security agents … and a civil rights investigation.

“I wouldn’t wish this experience upon anyone,” stated Mandi Hamlin said at a news conference. “My experience with TSA was a nightmare I had to endure. No one deserves to be treated this way.”

Mandi Hamlin, 37, stated she was preparing to board a flight from Lubbock to Dallas on February 24, when she was scanned by a Transportation Security Administration agent with a hand held scanner, after passing through a larger metal detector without problems. Hamlin stated that a female TSA agent used a hand held detector which beeped when it passed in front of Hamlin’s chest.

Hamlin said she told the woman she was wearing nipple piercings. The female TSA agent then called over her male colleagues, one of them told Mandi Hamlin that she would have to remove the jewelry. Hamlin said she told the agents she could not remove them and asked whether she could instead display her pierced breasts in private to the female agent. But several other male officers told her she could not board her flight until the jewelry was out.

Why? Was the pierced nipple a threat to national security, world peace, Islamic sensibilities, … or just the other passengers on the plane?

She was escorted behind a curtain and managed to remove one bar-shaped piercing but had trouble with the second, a ring.

“Still crying, she informed the TSA officer that she could not remove it without the help of pliers, and the officer gave a pair to her,” said Hamlin’s attorney, Gloria Allred, reading from a letter she sent Thursday to the director of the TSA’s Office of Civil Rights and Liberties.

Hamlin said she heard male TSA agents snickering as she took out the ring. She was scanned again and was allowed to board even though she still was wearing a belly button ring.

Those TSA agents should be fired! While they were joking and snickering about Mandi Hamlin and her dangerous nipple ring … real terrorists could have strolled right on through the gate!
